Creating your perfect cup

I have shared lots of videos, reels and recipe ideas which you can find on my instagram. You can make cacao to YOUR taste which is what I love about it. There are different quantities and endless ways to use this pure cacao. It makes a super coffee or tea substitute, yummy in smoothies, the perfect cup as a pre requisite for creativity or to enjoy with soulful conversations (they are my fav!) and general good feels.

Sourcing the premium Ceremonial grade cacao

After trying lots of varieties, I fell in love. I’ve sourced the most beautiful organic ceremonial grade cacao all the way from Guatemala and Peru. The Guatemalan cacao sourced this from a 100% Mayan owned business that is run entirely by indigenous women, who treat the Cacao with such reverence and love throughout the process. Each bean is fermented, sun-dried, lightly roasted over a traditional fire and peeled by hand to preserve its potency. It truly is a labor of love and you can taste it’s purity with every drop. By purchasing this Cacao you are supporting these amazing women and their families!

The Peruvian cacao is grown on a small farm using permaculture techniques. This cacao is so pure and has slightly fruity notes. It looks incredibly beautiful too and smells incredible!

What is ceremonial grade Cacao?

Ceremonial grade cacao is pure, organic and grown and produced with love and respect for the plant. It is not the same to the cacao you find mass produced in your local store. We are talking about an entirely new experience here, this cacao has the cacao butter intact and is grown organically in a small family farms. The whole Cacao bean is used and it is minimally processed to preserve the maximum amount of beneficial compounds and ensure purity and potency. The toasted and peeled beans are ground and packaged without tempering (extra heating). This results in 100% pure Cacao, nothing added and nothing removed.

Two AMAZING reasons why most people love chocolate are:

  • PHENYLETHYLAMINE: The famous love chemical, usually only produced by the brain, gives you what I call the ‘love buzz’. Basically all the happy good feels.

  • ANANDAMIDE: The bliss chemical can boost your mood!

Superfood

It has also been used for it’s myriad of health benefits. Pure Cacao has shown to be one of the healthiest foods we can consume. It’s been traditionally used to support women's postpartum recovery and it contains about 40 times more antioxidants than blueberries for starters.

  • IRON: Cacao has the highest natural source of iron, much more than red meat. Cacao is therefore perfect for a vegan diet which usually lacks in iron. Iron also energises your body, boosts your immune system and helps with concentration.

  • THEOBROMINE: Theobromine can be a longer lasting, milder, and more pleasant, softer energy source over caffeine without a spike or crashes in energy. Ideal if you are looking for a coffee replacement!

  • MAGNESIUM: As one of the highest plant-based sources of magnesium, cacao keeps your heart and brain healthy and gives you clarity and focus.

  • ZINC: Zinc promotes a healthy nervous and immune system.

  • PHOSPHORUS: A mineral is that supports healthy bones and teeth.

  • ANTIOXIDANTS: Cacao is the highest antioxidant food in the world Antioxidants improve blood flow and slow ageing!

Contadictions

I recommend you listen to your body and begin with a lower dose of 10-15g. I personally enjoy a cup with a strength of 20g now as my sweet spot. Always listen to your body, our bodies are all different and wise teachers! More than 42g may result in nausea or other unpleasant side effects, so please use wisely. Sip on water after consuming. If you have any health concerns, always consult your doctor.

Antidepressants:

Less commonly found, but some antidepressants contain MAOI's (Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors) and they are contradicted with tyramine found in chocolate. Low to average doses should be ok but please check with your doctor.

Heart Rate:

Cacao particularly in strong quantities, will raise your heart rate slightly and theobromine is a vasodilator (lowers blood pressure). If an increase in your heart rate could cause a medical problem, drink lighter amounts. Check with your doctor.

Pregnant and nursing women:

Always listen to your body. A lower dose would be advisable and if you have concerns please check with your doctor. If nursing, begin with a lower dose and observe how baby reacts to the cacao. I personally have drank cacao whilst nursing and have experienced no issues, I found it supportive, comforting and uplifting after those sleepless nights.

Children:

Use less than an adult dose. My children enjoy a 10g cup.

Pets:

Real cacao contains compounds that can kill dogs, cats, parrots, and horses.  Don’t let them eat it.
